…Plus Mordant Partisanship Wrecks Townhall Opportunity.

Moderator Charlie Gibson could not keep his mouth shut Tuesday night and turned a supposed town hall meeting into Gibson’s Gab Fest as he asked the most questions and elbowing the audience off the stage. Overnight polls show the event “disappointing” mostly because Gibson talked too much and didn’t let the audience ask questions or the candidates answer them.

Winning or losing was mostly judged by mordant partisans although it appeared the biggest shift was toward “unsure.”

Before Tuesday’s presidential debate Rasmussen’s 3-day average found Obama attracting 50% of the vote while John McCain earns 45%. Zogby’s 3-day tracking poll was much closer and had Obama at 47.1% to 45.2% with 7.7% unsure up from 7%.
