Obama’s VP pick, Joe Biden, has become a fairly consistent asset to the McCain campaign this time with another slip of the tongue that has Florida and its media aflame. It seems Orlando , Florida ’s WFTV’s Barbara West quoted Karl Marx and asked Biden how Obama’s comment to “Joe the Plumber,” about spreading the wealth wasn’t being Marxist.
“Are you joking?,” Biden fired back.
West replied, “No.”
I don’t know who’s writing your questions,” Biden retorted clearly angry and did not answer.
The Obama camp then killed a WFTV interview with Biden’s wife Jill, according to an Orlando Sentinel blog.
“This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election,” wrote Laura K. McGinnis, Central Florida communications director for the Obama campaign, according to the Sentinel.
The full quote by Karl Marx in Das Kapital is “From each, according to his ability; to each, according to his need.”
A 7-year old 2001 Chicago Public Radio interview by Barack Obama said it was a tragedy of the civil rights movement lost track of the coalition of power that can bring about the redistributions of income . Obama expressed regret that the Supreme Court hadn’t been more ‘radical’ and described as a ‘tragedy’ the Court’s refusal to take up ‘the issues of redistribution of wealth.’
McCain, himself, mentioned the 2001 radio interview at a rally this afternoon in Dayton, Ohio, coining a new name for Obama branding him “Barack the Redistributor.”
McCain must win Florida to take the White House and he was behind there before the Biden explosion by a scant 2% and well within the margin for error before the Biden outburst.
To paraphrase Benjamin Franklin, you can recover from a slip of the foot; but, a slip of the tongue can make you fall forever.
