Host of program segment "Tell me something I don't know". Not sure that is possible.

Matthews Angling Toward 2010 Senate Run - Specter May Not Run - But, Insisted 11-30 He Will Run.

MSNBC’s liberal pundit, and native Pennsylvanian Chris Matthews, age 62, may be considering another run for public office specifically the U.S. Senate in 2010.

The Patriot-News of Harrisburg, Pa. reports Matthews met with Democrat state party leaders this past Wednesday in Washington to discuss a possible bid to unseat Republican Sen. Arlen Specter, Pennsylvania’s senior senator who will have served 5 terms and 30 years by 2010 when he will be 80-years old..

Party official Mary Isenhour says she left the meeting feeling that Matthews still hadn’t made up his mind. It is obviouse to me that Matthews ego could not stand another political defeat — he ran unsuccessfully for a Pennsylvania congressional seat in 1974.—so he will wait to judge the political climate in mid to late 2009.

Matthews hosts MSNBC’s Hardball and provides political commentary on NBC’s Today. Christopher Matthews (born December 17, 1945) in Philadelphia Roman Catholic family and remains a practicing Catholic. He graduates from Holy Cross and the Univerity of North Crolina and served in the Peace Corp in Switzerland (1968-1970) and was a Vietnam War opponent and protester. Although he supported Barry Goldwater, Eugene McCarthy’s anti-war stance attracted Mathews.

Because of his political views and vociferousness NBC banished he and Keith Olberman from participating in the president debates. Mathews has had health problems including malaria and diabetes.

There was no immediate comment from Matthews on Saturday. And MSNBC did not immediately return a call from the Patriot-News.

  1. Senator Spector made it clear he was running in 2010 to Wolf Blitzer on CNN this morning, indicating he always has competition in the primary too and he will be ready for who ever he faces. Wolf then wished him good luck health wise. Wolf is a No Bias, No Bull colleague.
