Stimulus Dollars For Pornography

nea-logoThere have been more and more reports that Obama’s $787 billion economic stimulus package jammed through Congress as an emergency is still snarled in the Joe Biden led bureaucracy while the VP mooches beer at the co-called suds summit designed to untangle his bosses saying police acted stupidly when his buddy got busted. Whether you think Obama quaffing beer with Professor Gates and Police Sergeant Crowley while holding his breath that an interloping VP would blow the whole deal by making one of his patent stupid gaffs was appropriate or not using taxpayer dollars for pornography is at best peculiar.

Leaning that “stimulating includes spending taxpayer dollars on pornography” has some folks peeved. It seems The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) was given $80 million to spread around to needy artists nationwide. So far, so good.

Now we learn that the NEA used some of it for pornographers including:

  • $50,000 went to the Frameline film house, which recently screened Thundercrack, the worlds only underground kinky art porno horror film, complete with four men, three women and a gorilla.
  • $25,000 for the weekly production of “Perverts Put Out “at San Francisco’s CounterPULSE, whose long-running “pansexual” performance series invites guests to join your fellow perverts for some explicit, twisted fun. The show depicts the sharing of a central axis, [as] spine, mouth, genitals, face, and anus reveal their interconnectedness and centrality in embodied experience.
In the flesh and theres a lot of it it amounts to two people writhing naked on the floor, a government-funded tango in the altogether.

Admittedly those amounts compared to other multimillion boondoggles are a pittance; they do stimulate some while employing others - if only temporarily.

So far the NEA has not replied to an email asking for comment. The NEA’s telephone is 202-682-5400.

  1. Richard, I’m not pleased with the way Obama’s administration is spending our money and it galls me to hear of such abysmal and insipid waste. However, didn’t you recently say to me that it was a mistake to publicize deviants or deviant behavior? Doesn’t spending of any kind, government or private, in this manor qualify as deviant behavior?

And by the way, why is it always the West Coast that’s involved in such licentious activities as we both mentioned?
